Sunday Light Message
Text: 2 Peter 3:7,10
As matter of introduction, Peter, the writer of the epistle of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Peter is known for always having revelation knowledge from God: By which he knew and confessed that Jesus was the Christ, and the son of the living God; to which Jesus said that the revelation knowledge was given to Peter by his father in heaven. God uses the word of God that Peter knew to reveal things unto him.
Therefore, Peter having been with the son of God, and with the gift of revelation knowledge, has revealed this message we are considering today.
They are Three subheadings:
1. What shall be dissolved?
2. Why shall they be dissolved.
3. The only way of escape
1. What shall be dissolved? 2Peter 3:10; e.g. 2Peter 2:5-9, Jude 6-7
The ungodly people of the world, the buildings of the entire world shall be dissolved, the aircrafts, the ships, the heavy-duties, the caterpillars, the trailers, the vehicles, the ground, the Sun, stars, moon all shall be dissolved.
2. Why shall they be dissolved.
2Peter 3:3,5,7 Jude 7, 8,15; Rom 1:18-32
Because, God is angry with the people of the world due to their ungodliness. Therefore he wants to bring an end of the ungodly man with his ungodly world. Their ungodliness, includes scoffing (Mockery to God and his children; expressing scorn, derision, and contempt); Walking after lusts and illegitimate pleasures; Ignorance of God's word the holy scripture; fornication; going after strange flesh (gay, lesbians, bestiality) Jude 7.; filthiness; defilement; despising dominion, speaking evil of dignities and what they don't know; corruption and greediness etc
3. The only way of escape
2Peter 3:11-15; John 14:6
The only way to escape is Godliness and Righteousness which is the acceptable way of escape. One becomes godly, by acknowledging his sins, then come to Jesus Christ in Faith (Heb 11:1,6), with the burden of the retribution of Sin committed, which is the eternal separation from God and the eternal punishment in hell fire after death, or if still living at the time of the dissolution.
With this mind frame, he or she confess those sins to Jesus Christ in faith (believe Christ is hearing you though he is invisible), asking him to cleanse you with his blood that he shed for you in the first century in Jerusalem, which is still efficacious like the ocean; then believing he is interested in forgiving you, and that he has forgiven you according to the promise of God's word (John 1:8-9; Matt. 11:28.)
Then promise him, to love him, obey him, and to serve him, and ask him to keep you from now henceforth. That is it. You are now born again, you are now Just and godly. You have escaped the anger of God. You must seek to continue growing in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
God will save you when he begins the dissolution agenda (2Peter 3:13; 14 -15). He will take you and harbour you in his new earth with a new heaven where all his godly children domicile. What a great privilege!
